Hunger Free Forever is the new book that is hungry for answers to the roller coaster of weight gain, weight loss, weight gain…. you know the routine. What can another book tell us that hasn’t already been said?

Dr. Michael Lyon and Dr. Michael Murray have joined forces to bring recent scientific discoveries to light – discoveries that can help anyone with weight and diet concerns. The message of Hunger Free Forever may sound impossible, but these experts in natural health solutions show that it CAN be done.

“We are driven by concern for people’s health,” explains naturopathic physician and co-author of Hunger Free Forever, Dr. Michael Murray. “Stopping the obesity epidemic is key to preventing so many major health problems —cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, dementia, depression, even liver disease, impotence and arthritis. Obesity needs to be addressed, and fast, if we are going to improve people’s health. Individuals CAN do something about their weight. With this book we want to give them more than hope; we can help them get real results.”

Part of the Solution
The authors of Hunger Free Forever advise that there are many natural methods and products that can make it easier to reach, and maintain, a healthy weight. One key aspect of weight management is the use of fibre. In this book you will find out about the extensive scientific research behind a remarkable soluble fibre blend called PGX®, PolyGlycoPlex®. PGX can help re-train an overweight body so that hunger and cravings are reduced and the process of eating is, once again, under the individual’s control.

Written in an easy-to-read style, Hunger Free Forever offers many key weight loss and life style tips that can “terminate” bad relationships with food. The reader will find assistance from these health professionals for reducing stress and learning how to alter destructive habits and transform them into good habits. Using this book, you can come to understand, and control, the relationships between eating, appetite, metabolism, hormones, stress, muscle mass, attitude and glycemic index — to name a few! It just might change your life and health for the better, forever!

What is PGX?

PGX is a newly discovered blend of highly viscous soluble fiber known as PolyGlycoPlex. Used with or before each meal it promotes satiety, improves blood sugar control and supports healthy action of insulin.

The key aid to lose weight safely, effectively, and permanently is to greatly increase the consumption of dietary fiber. Unfortunately, to achieve appetite stabilizing effects very large quantities of fiber must be consumed – more than most people would ever eat. However a small, five gram serving of PGX produces a volume and viscosity that would equal as much as 4 bowls of oat bran!

The effectiveness of fiber on reducing appetite, blood sugar, and cholesterol is directly proportionate to the amount of water the fiber can absorb – its water holding capacity – and the degree of thickness or viscosity it provides in the stomach and intestine. Although there are many varieties of soluble fiber, PGX is the most viscous and soluble fiber ever discovered.

Hypoglycemia, also called low blood sugar, occurs when your blood glucose (blood sugar) level drops too low to provide enough energy for your body’s activities. In adults or children older than 10 years, hypoglycemia is uncommon except as a side effect of diabetes treatment, but it can result from other medications or diseases, hormone or enzyme deficiencies, or tumors.

Glucose, a form of sugar, is an important fuel for your body. Carbohydrates are the main dietary sources of glucose. Rice, potatoes, bread, tortillas, cereal, milk, fruit, and sweets are all carbohydrate-rich foods.

After a meal, glucose molecules are absorbed into your bloodstream and carried to the cells, where they are used for energy. Insulin, a hormone produced by your pancreas, helps glucose enter cells. If you take in more glucose than your body needs at the time, your body stores the extra glucose in your liver and muscles in a form called glycogen. Your body can use the stored glucose whenever it is needed for energy between meals. Extra glucose can also be converted to fat and stored in fat cells.

When blood glucose begins to fall, glucagon, another hormone produced by the pancreas, signals the liver to break down glycogen and release glucose, causing blood glucose levels to rise toward a normal level. If you have diabetes, this glucagon response to hypoglycemia may be impaired, making it harder for your glucose levels to return to the normal range.

Symptoms

Symptoms of hypoglycemia include

hunger

nervousness and shakiness

perspiration

dizziness or light-headedness

sleepiness

confusion

difficulty speaking

feeling anxious or weak

Hypoglycemia can also happen while you are sleeping. You might

cry out or have nightmares

find that your pajamas or sheets are damp from perspiration

feel tired, irritable, or confused when you wake upo relieve reactive hypoglycemia, some health professionals recommend taking the following steps:

eat small meals and snacks about every 3 hours

exercise regularly

eat a variety of foods, including meat, poultry, fish, or nonmeat sources of protein; starchy foods such as whole-grain bread, rice, and potatoes; fruits; vegetables; and dairy products

choose high-fiber foods

avoid or limit foods high in sugar, especially on an empty stomach

PGX® is the world’s most viscous soluble fiber blend. What does viscous mean? Simply “to thicken”. Once PGX® is added to water or food it thickens or becomes viscous. The viscosity of soluble fiber is important as it relates directly to the overall health benefits.*The most important advantage of PGX® over other soluble fiber products is that significantly less PGX® is required to obtain the same important health benefits, including appetite control and reduced food cravings.*Why take PGX®?
PGX® has been clinically proven to:
• Reduce appetite comfortably and safely*
• Reduce food cravings*
• Balance metabolism*
• Improve regularity*
• Maintain glucose levels already within normal range*PGX ® helps to reduce:
• Hunger pangs*
• Rebound weight gain*
• Stress of dieting*NOTICE: You may experience a temporary change in your bowel movements as your body adjusts to the addition of the PGX®, usually in 3 to 7 days. Start off with half the dose and slowly work up to the full dose to help your body adjust to the PGX®. PGX® swells when mixed with liquid or food; therefore, it is important to drink adequate amounts of water (12 – 14 oz) immediately after ingesting PGX®.Caution: Keep out of reach of children. If you are under 18 years of age, pregnant or nursing, or have health concerns, consult your health professional before starting any weight loss plan. If taking medication, take one hour prior to, or two hours after taking PGX®.

Serving Option: PGX® helps to curb your appetite and food cravings as well as promote overall good health.* PGX® mixes instantly in water or juice but may also be added to food such as yogurt, fruit salad, oatmeal or soup.

SlimStyles weight loss program consistently lost up to two pounds per week, which was primarily body fat. In addition to the loss in body fat, the SlimStyles weight loss program maintained lean muscle mass and did not affect body water levels. The participants’ metabolic rates were normalized, making it easier to keep the weight off – no rebounding effect.
Besides increasing insulin sensitivity, SlimStyles with PGX™ normalizes other important appetite hormones and supports healthy cholesterol levels while providing beneficial fibre. In fact, research on PGX™ is so impressive that it was featured at the American Diabetes Association’s annual meeting in June 2004.

I found it has helped me tremendously controlling my blood sugar issues.

I personal found just one scoop of the PGX Slim Style was all I need. Once a day.
I combined it with a full glass of 1% organic milk. Then immediately poured myself a glass of water so I wouldn’t forget to drink the 12 oz of water with in an hour of taking the PGX. Drinking the water is EXTREMELY important so you don’t get constipated.

I found that I was not hungry and during the times of day that I normally would nose dive and feel my sugar drop I was not having that issue

When I am on the go I will take the PGX tablets which are very convenient. Again make sure you take plenty of water during swallowing the tablets so they don’t expand in your throat, and then a 12 oz glass of water immediately afterwards.

According to Dr. Murray this fiber is like no other fiber as it is 600 times more beneficial in helping control blood sugar.

My son also takes the SlimStyle after working out as it also contains 25 g of protein. This is much better for you then those body building drinks on the market.

My Dad takes it for his diabetes, and is finding great results.

My girlfriend doesn’t need to lose weight but is taking it for her hypoglycemia and is finding great results also.

Read below to more detail about PGX and also listen to the Audio File.

Here is a audio file to learn more about PBX and how it has a great effect on glucose stabilization.
Dr. Michael Lyon, M.D. discusses diabetes, weight loss and his research using PGX.

For more info on PGX go to http://www.pgx.com/

             How it Works

PGX is not a diet. It helps with weight management by helping control appetite and calorie intake. It comes in new PGX Daily softgel capsules, in delicious powdered meal replacement mixes and in no-flavour granules that can be added to moist foods.

Mix up a delicious PGX shake and have it for breakfast, and/or lunch each day.

Take PGX Daily or single serving packets of PGX granules with you to the office, school or any time you’re eating out.

Sprinkle PGX granules on any moist food (soups, sauces, even salads or pizza!) and eat as you normally would – you’ll feel full after eating less. Remember to drink PLENTY of water to ensure the PGX has enough moisture to expand.

• PGX can even be baked into muffins and breads or made into a tasty pudding.

Whatever form of PGX you choose, you can incorporate this health supporting supplement into your lifestyle easily and quickly. So start NOW to stop the cravings and reduce the hunger that are making you fat.

(PGX) PolyGlycoplex is a proprietary blend of natural viscous, non-starch polysaccharides that act synergistically to develop a higher level of viscosity than other dietary viscous fibres known. This blend forms a unique gel matrix that moves slowly through the gastrointestinal tract. Unlike many fibre-containing natural health products, PGX does not lose its gel-like viscosity in the acidic environment of the stomach or the alkaline intestinal environment.

The effectiveness of fibre on reducing appetite, blood sugar, and cholesterol is well known and is directly proportionate to the amount of water the fibre is able to absorb (water holding capacity) and the degree of thickness or viscosity it develops in the stomach and intestine. For instance, oat bran lowers cholesterol and controls blood sugar better gram for gram than wheat bran because it absorbs more water. PGX combines several fibres that work synergistically to multiply each others’ effects and exert health effects equivalent to much larger quantities of any other fibres.

PGX is the most viscous and soluble fibre ever discovered. With its higher level of viscosity and extraordinary gel-forming properties, PGX is able to absorb hundreds of times its weight in water, resulting in a volume and viscosity three to five times greater than other highly soluble fibres like psyllium or oat beta glucan. A five gram serving of PGX in a meal replacement formula, or on its own, produces a volume and viscosity equal to as much as 20 grams of some other fibres , or 4 bowls of oat bran! Small quantities of PGX can be added to foods or taken before meals to have an impact on appetite and blood sugar.

             The Mechanical Benefits

Viscous foods move slowly through the digestive system, delaying absorption of nutrients and sugars into the blood, thereby moderating blood sugar levels. With PGX added to your meal, glucose levels rise more slowly as nutrients are absorbed more slowly. This means that when PGX is taken before meals, it slows the rate at which the food is broken down into glucose. This eliminates the blood sugar roller-coaster effect and improves the body’s use of insulin.

             Pre-Biotic Effects

In the colon, PGX is highly “prebiotic” – that means it promotes the growth of healthy bacteria and the production of short chain fatty acids (SCFA); substances that are vitally important to colon health. In the intestines PGX helps increase production of bifidobacteria, while suppressing the growth of undesirable microbes, such as Candida albicans, and lowering stool pH. It may also help decrease production of cholesterol and free fatty acids. As a viscous polysaccharide, PGX also increases excretion of bile acids, an action that helps lower blood cholesterol levels.
