10 Great Social Sites for Resume Building is a great article for using Social sites for getting your name out there as to what you do when job hunting.
I would have to add one more site which is Facebook because you never know who knows someone who can get you in the door of a company that you would otherwise never be expose to.  So you see that I changed the title to “11 Great Social Sites for Resume Building.”

Facebook
My suggestion is to set up a facebook account if you haven’t already done so and add the url’s of the places that you have your resume posted, monster, etc.  Use the Info section to add additional information about what your profession is and what you are looking for.
Post often so that people that may have not seen an update on your facebook page see it the next time they log in.
People are nowing recording videos  resume ‘about me’ type to seperate themselves out of the crowd.  Load that video to facebook also or link to your video.

Xing offers many of the same services as LinkedIn, and like LinkedIn, can serve as your online resume and cover letter. The standard service lets you create a professional profile page, search for people by name and industry, and join groups and events.  When you login, you’ll see jobs that might interest you, new members, visitors to your profile and much more.

If you’re currently employed and would like to keep your resume private, you can. Intuit Payroll is making it easy for employers to get President Obama’s economic stimulus tax credit dollars into their own and their employees’ pockets.

The stimulus package, known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, includes new tax credits and other assistance that while beneficial, will require changes to how payroll is calculated. It provides up to $400 of tax credits per eligible individual or up to $800 per eligible couple.

Getting the tax credits will require employers using spreadsheets and other manual payroll methods to stay on top of all the new laws and change how they handle payroll tax withholdings to accurately issue credits for each employee.  The IRS asks that employers calculate federal withholding and advance earned income credit payments with the new tables just issued as soon as possible, but no later than April 1st, 2009.

Intuit Payroll is helping ensure that the more than one million businesses using Intuit Payroll Services – and the more than 12 million employees paid with them – can take advantage of the new tax benefits while keeping their payroll in full compliance with the new legislation.

Many of my clients ask what to do so that they can protect their computer from anitviruses.

Here are a few things I suggest to them.

1.  Have a current back up of all their important files on their computer. Current means if your computer gets infected today, right now do you have a ‘current’ backup of your important files.?

My suggestion is to purchase an external harddrive (personal preference is any seagate products).
Then synchronize it with your PC’s hardrive so that you always have a current back up of your files.

2-  Have a really good Anti-Virus program installed.  ( Personal preference is Norton anti-virus)

3- Go the extra measure and add software like www.malwarebytes.org (they have a free and paid version) and www.webroot.com software to handle viruses,worms, trojans, rootkits, dialers, spyware and malware.

I have found that sometimes one program will catch something that one of the other programs missed.

4- Don’t be cheap about getting a program to protect your computer.  Think about how much billable time is wasted if your computer gets infected.
