I had the opportunity to attend the Facebook Developers conference otherwise know as F8.  It really is for internet geeks then for the general population but the presentation really was easy for anyone to follow along.
As a website developer and Advanced Online Marketing consultant I am thrilled to see all the enhancements and new features Facebook has to offer.
Many will be rolled out within the next couple of weeks.

New Facebook annual reports  (Timeline of the whole year) are the scrapbooks of the 21st century.

In Timelines all the user’s stories appear in the bottom left hand side of the page, much like their existing Wall.  On the right, there’s a timeline that beaks down all posts from various points.  And there will be a large ‘cover photo’ at the top of the page.  It reminds me of a Website page for you personally.  I really like the new look.  It also is very easy to use.

Timeline is also already available for mobile devices as well.

You will also be able to to click on a Year and scroll down that year.  Years will be broken down by months.
Timeline will be able to have a posted map built by Bing, a result from the partnership between Facebook and Microsoft.
Open Graphs – Many companies are creating new apps to be able to share in REAL TIME on Facebook.
Examples of some companies Hulu, Netflix, Spotify, and many more now that open graph will allow so many more companies to build apps that integrate with Facebook.

The ticker will be more real time activity so you know immediately that your friend is watch a movie, or listen to a song you love too.
The ticker also can be more rapid updates that don’t clog up the newsfeed of your friends unless you want that post to show up in the newsfeed.

One example is to be able to listen to music that a friend is listening to in REAL TIME right on Facebook.

Another app that will be available is you can “like” a song and it will move the song further up in the song that will be played next.

Creating a playlist that you can share and collaborate with friends.

Watching a moving on Netflix, well your Facebook friends would see that in your ticker and then they can say hey I want to watch that too and can watch it right on Facebook.

Learning a new recipe and being able to cook together with a friend virtually.

Read a book and share.

Facebook just kicked social TV into high gear!!!!

There have been many other enhancements rolled out such as Tickers, Revised Friend Lists, and several many other tweeks.

Today, Facebook announced an Upgrade for Pages.  For now, the upgrade is optional for fan pages, but it will be a requirement by March 2011.  You can go to this page to http://www.facebook.com/pages/status/ to Upgrade and/or take a Upgrade Tour all the fan pages you are admin.Here is a REPORT of all the changes:

• Photos at the top: The most recent photos that you post to the Wall of a Page you admin, or photos you tag your Page in, will appear here. This area will not include any photos posted by people who like your Page.

• Use Facebook as your Page: You will be able to receive notifications for your Page, view a News Feed for your Page, and like and post on other Pages as your Page (see ‘Use FB as Page’ below).

• Wall filters: Pages now have two publicly visible Wall filters-"Posts by Page" and "Everyone." Page admins will be able to view additional filters-"Most Recent" and "Hidden Posts.

• Email notifications: You can opt to receive notifications when people post or comment on your Page.

• Featured Pages and admins: You can feature other Pages your Page likes, or admins of your Page, in the new "Likes" and "Page Owners" sections on the left side of your Page (see "Featured Pages & Admins" below).

• Mutual connections: When people visit your Page, they will be able to view friends who also like your Page, as well as other Pages that both they and your Page like.

• Navigation: The content that you formerly accessed by clicking the tabs at the top of your Page can now be found in the column underneath your Page profile picture. The text in the box that used to appear in the box underneath your Page profile picture will now appear in the Info tab.

• Profile picture size: The profile picture size for Pages has been adjusted from 200×600 to 180×540

• Better Communication

Use FB as Page.

This new feature allows you to get notifications about activity on your page, see stories from pages you like in your newsfeed, and interact with other pages as your page

• Receive notifications when people interact with your page or posts
• Use the search bar to find other pages to like and comment on them as your page.
• You can go back to use Facebook as yourself anytime – just click Account and select your name.

Featured Pages

You can feature specific Page admins in the "Page Owners" section of your Page. To feature admins:

1. Click the "Edit Page" button in the top-right corner of your Page.
2. Select "Featured" from the left column menu.
3. Click on the "Add Featured Page Owners" button, and select admins to feature.

Featured Admins

Your Page can "like" other Pages, and those will be shown on the left side of your Page. To feature Pages:

1. Click the "Edit Page" button in the top-right corner of your Page.
2. Select "Featured" from the left column menu.
3. Click on the "Add Featured Pages" button.
4. Click "Add Featured Likes."
5. Choose Pages you’d like to feature. Note: you need to be connected to Pages from your personal profile in order to feature them on the Page you admin.
6. Click "Save."

When users sign into their accounts, they can select to view either the “News feed” tab or the “Live Feed” tab. The news feed will feature items Facebook believes are of most value to you, while the live feed will list everything that is going on with your friends.

When users are on their news feed tab, the live feed tab will keep track of how many new posts have been added. This is similar to Facebook’s recent news feed which notifies users when new posts are added.

Facebook has also added information back to the News Feed, like when friends are tagged in photos, when friends become fans of pages or join a group, when they RSVP to events, and when they add friends

Watch the video and learn how to ‘tame your feeds’ so that you have a better experience with what you see in your feeds.
Many people don’t realize several features that they use to help.

Couple of key features people miss…

• Changing the amount of friends that the default setting is set at.
• Using Friends lists and adjusting where the list folder is placed

Fab Facebook Friend to Follow on Facebook is something I would like to see more business owner do on Facebook.
Twitter has a Follow Friday where you recommend a business owner and state why you would recommend them. Here are the directions on how to do so EASILY.

1- Go to the persons profile that you would recommend, go down to the bottom and click Share. A box will appear that you can write in why you would recommend them (See image).

It will appear on your profile wall or a message in peoples inbox.
